PVC Control
The graphs below are actual recordings from PVC irrigation system mainlines.
The graph below was one of 17 sequential graphs from an actual irrigation mainline. The graphs revealed that the pump station was "cycling" the mainline approximately 9,870 times each month. This pump station accelerated the mainline aging process to 10 years PER MONTH. That translates to 10 years of mainline failures every month.
The two graphs below are an example of what PVC Control can achieve. The graphs are sequential. The recordings were obtained to verify correct operation of a new pump station with PVC Control. The first graph directly below is with the irrigation system NOT working. Notice that there is almost no pressure cycling of the mainline ! Pressure is maintained at a steady 57-59 psi.
The graph below is from the same pump station with the irrigation system operating. The pressure rises and falls depicted in the graph are field hydraulic effects from valves opening and closing, notice how small the pressure variations are. The PVC Control system responds to developing flows so fast that the maximum pressure variation due to valves opening was limited to 3 psi. There is one 7 psi pressure rise that resulted from a field valve closure.
DYNAMIC or FLOWING CONDITIONS Field valves opening and closing during irrigation operations always cause mainline pressure variations. Pump station response speed is therefore the key to maintaining even pressure in the mainline as field events occur. PVC Control responds to field events many times faster than most pump stations can, so pressure variations are far smaller than on other systems.
STATIC or NON-FLOWING CONDITIONS Pumps start only to maintain pressure lost due to small leaks in the system and very low flow rates (hose bibs). PVC Control demonstrates clear superiority over the average pump station under these conditions. PVC Control maintains steady even pressure on the mainline under these conditions where regular pump stations cannot.
LEAKING CONDITIONS Truly this is the high point of PVC Control. Normal pump stations respond poorly to leaks, so poorly that under leaking conditions normal pump stations begin destroying the mainline with a vastly accelerated aging process. PVC Control is TOTALLY UNAFFECTED BY LEAKS IN THE SYSTEM !!! Unaffected means that when a pressure recording is made on a PVC Control supplied system, the pressure recording will NOT SHOW ANY SIGNS OF A LEAK. The pumps will start often to feed water to the leak, but mainline pressure is almost unaffected by the leak.
