International Electrotechnical Commission  -  IEC

The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is a global organization that prepares and publishes international standards for all electrical, electronic, and related technologies.

Standard Irrigation Craft motor contactors are built to IEC Specifications.  Irrigation Craft will provide contactors built to NEMA specifications at the customer's request.  IEC contactors provide built in Phase Loss and Phase Unbalance protection, which NEMA contactors do not provide.  The combination of NEMA contactors and the additional phase monitor is more prone to problems than an IEC contactor with built in phase loss protection.

Intake

  1. Water Source and Structures Including:

  1. Sumps

  2. Tanks

  1. Conduit (pipe) transmitting fluid to the pump connection

  2. Valves and fittings

  3. Flow Straighteners

  4. Fluid conditioning systems such as filters, strainers, screens, etc.

Irrigation Craft and recognized authorities such as The Pump Handbook  (Karassik, et al) agree that the largest single cause of centrifugal pump problems is the Pump Intake System.
