Flow Run
Many flow
meters require a "flow run" to straighten fluid flow before entering or passing
by the flow meter so that the meter's specified accuracy is achieved. A
flow run is a straight run of pipe leading to and away from the flow meter or
insertion transducer.
SeaMetrics
insertion turbine flow transducers require 10 pipe diameters upstream and 5 pipe
diameters downstream to achieve stated accuracy. This means a transducer
installed into 3" pipe will have 30" of straight pipe leading to the transducer,
and 15" of straight pipe downstream of the transducer.
Please note
that in some cases it is not possible to include the flow run inside the station
without greatly increasing the pump station size. In those cases
Irrigation Craft may offer the customer the option of decreasing the length of
the flow run (assuming flow meter accuracy may be lowered), or allowing the
customer to install the flow transducer themselves outside the pump station.
Protected
Power Source
Irrigation
Craft will power the flow meter with a protected power source. This is the
same power source we use for our controls including an isolation transformer as
the first stage transient suppressor.
